Sendsteps live in de politieke arena

In het kader van de Tweede Kamer verkiezingen organiseerden de HvA een debat tussen verschillende politici onder leiding van Jort Kelder. Het publiek kreeg de mogelijkheid om direct te reageren op de stellingen van de politici door middel van SMS, Internet en Twitter. Ook kon het publiek vragen stellen via SMS2stage tijdens het interview met Frits Bolkestein en participeren tijdens het rondetafelgesprek.
Hoe werden de producten toegepast
Send2vote:
Aan het begin van de avond vroegen we de aanwezigen welke partij ze op dat moment zouden stemmen. Het publiek kon anoniem reageren via SMS, (mobiel) internet en Twitter en de resultaten werden getoond in een staafdiagram Dezelfde vraag werd aan het einde van de avond nogmaals gesteld, zodat de verschuiving zichtbaar werd die er naar aanleiding van het debat had plaatsgevonden. Daarnaast voerde Jort Kelder tijdens het debat live stellingen in naar aanleiding van de uitspraken van de politici. Het publiek reageerde daar direct op. De mening van het publiek was zo meteen zichtbaar en daar konden de politici op hun beurt weer op in spelen.
SMS2stage:
Zowel tijdens het debat met de politici als bij het interview met Frits Bolkestein en het rondetafelgesprek met Mi Lei Vos, Eddy Terstall, Meindert Fennema en Claes de Vrees werd SMS2stage ingezet. Het publiek kon anoniem zijn vragen insturen via SMS en deze verschenen vervolgens direct op het scherm. Onderbrekingen via een richtmicrofoon waren op deze manier overbodig en Jort Kelder nam de vragen mee in de verschillende sessies.
Wat was het effect?
Zowel bij SMS2stage als bij Send2vote werd het publiek direct betrokken bij het debat, de gesprekken en het interview. Dit zorgde voor een zeer dynamisch geheel. Het werd goed inzichtelijk wat het publiek van de uitspraken van politici vond en of het debat effect had gehad op de mening van de groep. Omdat bij Send2vote anoniem gestemd werd was de uitslag erg betrouwbaar. Doordat het insturen van vragen via SMS verliep in plaats van via een richtmicrofoon bleef de hele avond ook inhoudelijk op hoog niveau. Het publiek voelde zich gehoord en gewaardeerd door de contante interactie.

Sendsteps at Euro Hockey League
Also big international sport events see the value of our products. The Euro Hockey league, a new format for the men’s European competition used Send2vote to vote for the Man of the Match. The matches were broadcasted live on television and it was possible to watch the livestream via internet. This way it was possible not only for people in the stadium, but also for people watching at home from all over the world to participate and vote via Twitter, (mobile) internet and SMS. In the last quarter the voting started and the graphics were changing all the time. It was exiting to see the votes coming in in real time! The Euro Hockey League is known for the high quality TV coverage and broad media and marketing platform. They showed to be innovating by choosing Sendsteps!

Universities choose Sendsteps for interactive lectures
In the fall of 2008 the VU University was the first University in Holland to use SMS2vote for increasing the student-professor interaction. While using the SMS2vote PowerPoint™ toolbar professors discovered it was very easy to use and enhanced the interaction with their students. They used it to find common misconceptions, vote anonymously on provocative hypothesis and to check if the students were ready for their exams. After four months the trial period turned out to be successful and the VU decided on 2 February 2009 to do a university-wide rollout of SMS2vote.
After this success a number of universities have already shown interest. Last year Sendsteps signed a contract with SURFdiensten, the central distributor for IT solutions and software for universities and colleges. We are proud to inform you that besides the VU University also the Radboud University Nijmegen, UvA- University of Amsterdam, MBA institute Nijenrode and University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit) are now using SMS2vote and SMS2stage as aid for their lectures.
