Let them find it
Add a DICOM question. Students open the same study on their phone or laptop, search for the finding and place a marker. Add follow-up questions, and they send everything in one go.
Best for: "Point out the abnormality."
DICOM Viewer · Add-on for medical education
Show an X-ray, an ultrasound or a full DICOM study on your slide. Every student works on their own device, marks the finding, and you see every answer on the image.
In most lectures, students see one frame someone pasted into a slide. That might be a chosen X-ray, or a single slice of a study. They never adjust the contrast, measure or search for the finding themselves. On a study with slices, they never scroll. You can't see who would have found it. Testing tools check knowledge afterwards. They don't bring the image into the lesson.
How it works
Add a DICOM question. Students open the same study on their phone or laptop, search for the finding and place a marker. Add follow-up questions, and they send everything in one go.
Best for: "Point out the abnormality."
Add the image next to a quiz, poll or open question. You adjust contrast and point things out on the big screen. On a study with slices, you scroll through them. Then you ask the question.
Best for: "Let me show you the case, then test your understanding."
A viewer for a single image or a stack of slices. It works in the browser, on phones and laptops. Nothing to install.
With a slider, mouse wheel or touch.
Adjust brightness and contrast by dragging.
With the mouse, or multi-touch on a phone.
Lengths in millimetres on calibrated studies.
On CT: hover to read, tap to pin.
Switch views on any volume.
Placed in the study's own space, shared across linked series.
Focus on one series, then back to all.

Every answer appears as a dot on the image. Dots closest to your correct marker are green, the furthest are red, so you see at a glance where the group is looking. Your correct marker stays hidden on students' devices and on the big screen until you open the results.
Label structures as study material, without giving away the answer.
Open text or multiple choice, right after the marker.
Let students open other series from the same study for comparison.
The study opens on the slice, position and zoom you chose.
Hide the tools on your screen so the slide looks clean, while you keep control.
Large studies load in the background as the session starts, and stay cached in the browser.
Your own cases
Import a hospital export straight into your browser: single files, a folder, a zip or DICOM media with a DICOMDIR. The raw clinical data stays on your device until you confirm it is anonymised. Sendsteps only stores the anonymised teaching package.
Start right away with sample studies: chest, knee, hand, jaw, teeth and more.
DICOM Viewer is educational software. It is not intended for diagnosis or treatment decisions and is not a medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR). It is not a PACS, doesn't connect to hospital systems, and isn't a formal exam tool. It brings the image into the lesson.

No. They join the session in their browser, on a phone or laptop.
Yes. Add the study as an image and put the quiz on the same slide. A slide has one interactive question, so a DICOM question and a quiz go on separate slides.
Not with points. Dots are coloured from green to red relative to your correct marker, so you see who is close and who is far off.
Yes. Students can work through DICOM questions in their own time, in the self-paced Answer Center.
