Surveys before, during, or after the lesson

Sendsteps Survey is how educators collect structured responses in the Learning Loop Platform. Send it before class, during a lesson or presentation, afterwards, or on its own. Create it for yourself, a group, or the whole institution. All question types plus branching. It is part of Engage, not a separate survey product.

Students responding during a class session
When you send it

The same survey, at the moment it is useful

A Sendsteps survey is not locked to a live classroom. Use it around the lesson, or without a lesson at all.

Before class

Check prior knowledge, collect questions, or warm up a topic so the live session starts from what students already think.

During the lesson

Run the survey in the room or in a presentation so every student can respond, not only the hands that go up.

After class

Follow up when students have had time to think. Useful as homework, a recap, or a formative check that still feeds Validate.

Standalone

Send a survey on its own, with no live session attached. Participants open it on their device and answer in their own time.

Who can use it

For you, a group, or the whole institution

Create a survey for your own teaching. Share it with a group. Or publish it institution-wide so every user on the campus license can reuse it, without rebuilding the same questionnaire faculty by faculty.

What you can ask

Every question type, plus branching

A survey is not a new question type. It is a way to send the types you already use, with logic between them.

The types you already know

Quizzes, polls, word clouds, open questions, Q&A and upvoting can live in a survey the same way they live in a lesson. See all question types.

Branching

Later questions can follow from earlier answers, so students only see what is relevant. You stay in control of the path.

Survey is Engage, not a side product

Responses collected in a survey still belong to Engage. They can become evidence in Validate, so you see who understood, and they can inform Improve for the next lesson. Equal voice for every student, including quieter ones and people answering in their own time.

Questions about Survey

Frequently asked questions about Sendsteps Survey

Is Sendsteps a survey tool?

No. Sendsteps is the Learning Loop Platform for education. Survey is how you collect structured responses as part of Engage: before, during, or after a lesson, or as a standalone send. It is not a separate product category.

When can I send a Sendsteps survey?

Before class, during a lesson or presentation, after class, or on its own with no live session. The same survey can support a lecture, homework, or an institution-wide check-in.

Can I send a survey without a lesson?

Yes. You can send a standalone survey. Students or participants open it on their own device and respond in their own time.

Who can use a survey I create?

Create a survey for yourself, share it with a group, or publish it institution-wide so every user on the campus license can use it.

What question types and logic can a survey use?

A survey can use the same question types as Engage, including quizzes, polls, word clouds, open questions and Q&A, plus branching so later questions can follow from earlier answers.

Every lesson improves the next

Send a survey before class, in the room, or afterwards. Then see who understood.
