Use a slide layout

Do this first. The question then sits in a layout made for it.

  1. Under the slide list, choose Add slide.
  2. The dialog title is Choose a layout. The field says Search layouts…
  3. Choose Countdown Slide.
  4. If you do not see that layout, choose Show all layouts. Under that card you see Browse everything in a dedicated view.
  5. The slide is added. On it you see Click to add countdown and Insert countdown here.
  6. Click Click to add countdown. The Questions panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.

Then follow the steps below to add this question type.

Steps

  1. Open the presentation in the editor.
  2. Choose Questions. A panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.
  3. Open Utilities, then choose Countdown. The row is marked Utility.
  4. It appears on the slide you are on. You do not press Save.

What you see

A countdown runs on the slide. The line under Settings says Set the countdown duration for your audience.

What participants do

They watch the countdown. They do not send an answer on this slide.

When to use it

Use a Countdown to give the room a moment before a Quiz, or before you reveal an answer. It marks the time. It does not collect a response.

Settings

Open Settings. Countdown seconds starts at 10. That is how many seconds the countdown runs. Change the number to make it longer or shorter.

If it does not work

A slide can hold one interactive question. If it already has one, you see One question per slide. The message says Only one interactive question per slide is allowed. Choose Cancel to stay on this slide, or Add to new slide to place the Countdown on a new slide.
