  3. Choose Interactive Question Slide.
  4. If the question should sit next to an image, choose Interactive Question Slide with Image instead.

  6. The slide is added. On it you see Click to add question and Insert interactive question here.
  7. Click Click to add question. The Questions panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.

Then follow the steps below to add this question type.

Steps

  1. Open the presentation in the editor.
  2. Choose Questions. A panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.
  3. Open Activities, then choose Find a number.
  4. It appears on the slide you are on. You do not press Save.
  5. Click the question on the slide. It starts as Ask your question here... Type your own question.
  6. The sidebar says Audience guesses a number. Grade with a tolerance, or collect numbers only.

What you see

The question sits on the slide. When you present live, you see the numbers people entered.

What participants do

On their own device, they enter a number. If you filled in Minimum and Maximum, they are asked for a number between those two.

When to use it

Use Find a number for a quantity, an estimate, or a calculation. Put the unit in the question, so everyone is estimating the same thing.

Ask how people got to their number. The spread shows where the group is unsure.

Settings

Correct number starts at 100. That is the number a graded answer is measured against.

Grade answers is on. A number can be right or wrong. Turn it off if you only want to collect the numbers.

Tolerance starts at 0, and only while Grade answers is on. It is how far a number can be from Correct number and still count. The line under the field shows the accepted range. At the start, that range is only 100. Raise the tolerance to widen it.

Minimum and Maximum are empty. They are optional. The line under them says Optional. Audience sees “enter a number between X and Y”.

Open Settings.

Maximum responses per participant is 1. Each person can send one number. Raise it if they should be able to send more than one.

Time limit is off. People can answer for as long as the question stays open. Turn it on to close answers after 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes.

Participants can edit their answers is off. A person cannot change what they already sent. Turn it on if they should be able to change it.

Under Show answers, a new Find a number question uses Show answers after a click. The result stays hidden until you click. Switch to Show answers immediately if you want it to appear while people are still answering.

If it does not work

A slide can hold one interactive question. If it already has one, you see One question per slide. The message says Only one interactive question per slide is allowed. Choose Cancel to stay on this slide, or Add to new slide to place the Find a number question on a new slide.
