Use a slide layout

Do this first. The question then sits in a layout made for it.

  1. Under the slide list, choose Add slide.
  2. The dialog title is Choose a layout. The field says Search layouts…
  3. Choose Interactive Question Slide.
  4. If the question should sit next to an image, choose Interactive Question Slide with Image instead.
  5. If you do not see that layout, choose Show all layouts. Under that card you see Browse everything in a dedicated view.
  6. The slide is added. On it you see Click to add question and Insert interactive question here.
  7. Click Click to add question. The Questions panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.

Then follow the steps below to add this question type.

Steps

  1. Open the presentation in the editor.
  2. Choose Questions. A panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.
  3. Open Utilities, then choose Spin the wheel. The row is marked Utility.
  4. It appears on the slide you are on. You do not press Save.
  5. Click the question on the slide. It starts as Ask your question here... Type your own question.
  6. Open Slices. The slices start as Yes, No, and Maybe. The line says Add at least two slices. During play, tap the wheel on the slideshow to spin. Replace the slices with your own.
  7. To add a slice, choose Add slice. You can have from 2 to 12 slices.

What you see

The wheel sits on the slide. On the big screen it says Tap to spin. While it moves it says Spinning…. When it stops, it shows the slice it landed on.

What participants do

They watch. The line in the editor says On the big screen, tap the wheel to spin. The audience does not vote.

When to use it

Use the wheel when a random pick is part of the activity. A case, a topic, or a person to start.

Connect the slice it lands on to the task that follows. The spin on its own does not carry the activity.

Settings

The slices are the setup. There is no Settings block on this type. Two slices is the minimum.

If it does not work

A slide can hold one interactive question. If it already has one, you see One question per slide. The message says Only one interactive question per slide is allowed. Choose Cancel to stay on this slide, or Add to new slide to place the wheel on a new slide.
