Use a slide layout

Do this first. The question then sits in a layout made for it.

  1. Under the slide list, choose Add slide.
  2. The dialog title is Choose a layout. The field says Search layouts…
  3. Choose Explanation Slide.
  4. If you do not see that layout, choose Show all layouts. Under that card you see Browse everything in a dedicated view.
  5. The slide is added. On it you see Click to add QR code and Insert QR code here.
  6. Click Click to add QR code. The Questions panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.

Then follow the steps below to add this question type.

Steps

  1. Open the presentation in the editor.
  2. Choose Questions. A panel opens. Its title is Interactive questions.
  3. Open Utilities, then choose QR code. The row is marked Utility.
  4. It appears on the slide you are on. You do not press Save.
  5. The panel title is QR Code. You see Live join code. The line says Participants join via this code. It is managed by the live session and cannot be edited here.

What you see

The slide shows a QR code and the login code. People scan it, or they type the code, to join.

What participants do

They join the presentation. They do not answer a question on this slide.

When to use it

Put a QR code on a slide when you want the join details in the presentation itself, not only on the join overlay.

Settings

The code is made for this presentation. You cannot type a different one. See The join code on a QR code.

If it does not work

A slide can hold one interactive question. If it already has one, you see One question per slide. The message says Only one interactive question per slide is allowed. Choose Cancel to stay on this slide, or Add to new slide to place the QR code on a new slide.
